Orlyonok celebrates the World Radio Day

Russian Children’s Centre Orlyonok celebrated the World Radio Day with a large Radio DJ Show. Over 300 boys and girls became participants of a festival that was held in Orlyonok for the first “The World Radio Day was proclaimed by UNESCO’s 36th General Conference and is celebrated in different parts of the world for the eighth time. The theme of 2019 is Dialogue, Tolerance and Peace. Each radio station of the planet unites and finds new ways to solve different issues, encouraging positive thoughts and actions”, – commented the Director of the Russian Children's Centre Orlyonok Mr. Alexander Dzheus. Every camper of Session 2 could take part in the DJ casting, while the 4 best participants got to the finals, where they fought for the title of the best young radio presenter. The contestants had 7 creative challenges, demonstrating good diction, the ability to control their voice, to get out of unforeseen situations and ask interesting questions during live broadcasts, to improvise, and to work with news texts. The tasks were oriented on quick-wittedness, intellectual skills, the ability to solve difficult cases and making jokes in time. The expert jury was composed of the representatives of the Russian Children Centre Orlyonok and Kids’ Radio, one of the largest federal radio channels of our country. “Each participant was able to show themselves in competitive tasks that were not easy. In the future they will be able to become professional radio presenters. As a representative of radio industry I am very pleased to realize that there is someone share my experience.”, — commented the chief editor of Kids’ Radio Elena Bondarenko. The atmosphere in the hall was on top. With enthusiastic and tumultuous applause the campers supported the participants. Like in a real radio broadcast the event had its own commercial breaks, during which creative groups from the camps performed. Also, all comers could take photos at the thematic photo zone with professional equipment and putting on DJ headphones feel like a real radio representative. According to the results the best participant is Ksenia-Eva Beltikova from Chelyabinsk. She got the main prize – the opportunity to record the news that will be released on the Orlyonok-FM Radio for an audience of over thirty thousand people. “This contest has become unforgettable for me! I just went on the stage, breathed out and showed everything that I could. During the contest I was able to see my strengths and weaknesses. In the future I would like to connect my life with radio and become a professional”, — shared the winner of Radio DJ Show.
