The Role of Community Radio in Peace Building and Conflict Resolution in Ethiopia

Celebrating WRD 2019 with Community radio for promoting dialogue, tolerance and peace. The main objective of the day will be reinforcing the role of community radio in peace building and conflict resolution in Ethiopia that primarily contributes to SDG 16 targets of promoting peaceful and inclusive societies through promoting dialogue, tolerance and peace.
On the day, radio stations will transmit live programmes from the event to their stations. The key message of the day will be the power of radio in creating peaceful communities through providing a platform for dialogue and promoting tolerance and peace

UNESCO Liaison Office in Addis Ababa will celebrate WRD 2019 in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia with national stakeholders mainly from community radio participating across the country. The celebration brings on board partners such as Amhara Mass Media Agency, Ethiopian Broadcast Authority and Bahir Dar University.

The main objective of the day will be reinforcing the role of community radio in peace building and conflict resolution in Ethiopia that primarily contributes to SDG 16 targets of promoting peaceful and inclusive societies through promoting dialogue, tolerance and peace.

On the day, radio stations will transmit live programmes from the event to their stations. The key message of the day will be the power of radio in creating peaceful communities through providing a platform for dialogue and promoting tolerance and peace.

Plenary presentations and discussion will also be held on the role of radio for sustainable development and more specifically on community radio’s role in peace building in Ethiopia. With the view to strengthening community radio in Ethiopia, a capacity development training workshop will be held for board members on the next day.
