SABC, CHANNEL AFRICA CELEBRATES WORLD RADIO DAY 2018 THROUGH SPORTS
Radio is the mass media reaching the widest audience in the world. Join Channel Africa in support of UNESCO celebrating World Radio Day on the 13th February 2018. Listen to Channel Africa from the 7th February, when our guests will share their experiences using radio as a tool to address challenges in Sports across the World, also promoting the legacy of Nelson Mandela.
Channel Africa’s Kiswahili, French and Portuguese services will bring you pre- interviews on World Radio Day with different UNESCO representatives.
On the 13th of February 2018, Mosibudi Rachel Makhura will be talking to Mr. Tokyo Sexwale, about Racism in Sports globally on Africa Midday, also touching on gender equality and Mandela’s legacy of addressing issues through Sports. Not to be missed.
From the 16th to the 24th February 2018, The station’s Sports programme, Africa @ Play will address other issues affecting Sports, which are: Football in conflict zones – 16th February, Disparities in men and women‘s sport e.g. Remuneration, support, etc. – 23rd February and Doping in Sports on the 24th February.

As Radio is still the leading communication medium on the continent and Channel Africa’s broadcast footprint which covers all regions across the continent, it is therefore crucial for the station to use its influence to highlight challenges, successes by supporting programmes that are aimed at uplifting communities across the continent through sports infotainment”.
