On the occasion of World Radio Day, UNESCO is making these interesting radio spots available rights-free for broadcast by radio stations all over the world.
Behind every sportswoman there is a young girl with dreams.
Highlighting the hard work and sacrifice it takes for athletes to reach the elite, UNESCO shares the dreams of two little girls as they aspire to be the best in their sports, only for their hard work to be destroyed by sexist comments.
1 SPORT / 2 STORIES:
Women and men practise the same sports, train in the same way, and compete in the same type of competitions. However, their experiences are too often radically different, much a result of how they’re perceived in the media.
Using the power of audio, UNESCO is highlighting the differences using three radio spots featuring the voices of a man and a woman telling their versions of a sporting competition. They tell exactly the same story, except for a few key details... In every sentence one word is subtly different and the result is striking.
For listening with headphones:
These special versions of the 1 Sports 2 Stories spots are created specifically for use with headphones or stereo speakers, with the man's experience playing through the left air and the women's through the right.
