World Radio Day 2017 Celebrations in Kenya
Kenya will join the rest of the world to mark the World Radio Day 2017 celebrations at Laico Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
UNESCO will in cooperation with other stakeholders celebrate 90 years of radio in Kenya, reflect on growth of this extraordinary mass medium, its current status, its core utility, and its future in Kenya.
Key partners invited to the celebrations include the Media Council of Kenya (MCK), Communications Authority (CA), Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM), Kenya Community Media Network (KCOMNET), Kenya Telecentres Link (KENTEL), Radio Stations (Public and private radio stations), Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ), Kenya Correspondence Association (KCA), Media Owners Associations, Media Practitioners, Embassy of Sweden (SIDA), and UN agencies.
This year’s celebrations will also aim at raising greater awareness among the public and the media of the importance of radio; to encourage decision makers to establish and provide access to information through radio; as well as to enhance networking and international cooperation among broadcasters.
