UNESCO Asia-Pacific #WorldRadioDay competition!
The internet may dominate the media, but radio remains a dynamic, reactive and robust medium – and often the only that can reach our region’s most marginalized groups. It informs us with news, entertains us with music, and even lets us directly participate if we want to. For these reasons, radio brings communities together rather than creating bubbles of like-minded views, as social media often does.
The social role of radio is made possible thanks to community participation. This is why this year, the theme for World Radio Day is: Radio is YOU! Be it with listener clubs, public editors or policies that ensure freedom of expression and journalist safety, everyone can participate in making radio a platform for positive dialogue and change.
This is why, to celebrate World Radio Day, UNESCO Bangkok is encouraging YOU to have your say on how you would like radio to be like, why you think radio is important, and what you experience is with radio. Tweet us as @UNESCO with the hashtag #WorldRadioDay for a chance to write your very own guest blog post about your experience with radio, published on our website!
The contest closes on Monday 13th February at midnight (Indochina time). Good luck!
