Roundtable discussion on community radios in Jordan

World Radio Day in Amman
A roundtable bringing together approximately 20 individuals from local and community radio stations in addition to UNESCO radio consultants, and the Media Commission.

The theme of the roundtable is "A healthy radio station”: a community radio station that is representing the views and diversity of its audiences, its listeners are central contributors to its strategy and policies, and has mechanisms that allow people to participate at all levels. This includes self-regulatory systems such as a complaints process and audience engagement policies. A healthy community radio station also deals with challenges relating to sustainability and funding. In addition, it works with officials and other communities to support an enabling legal environment for community radio development. The event is sponsored through the EU funded and UNESCO Amman Office implemented “Support to Media in Jordan” project. The goal of the roundtable is to build on the achievements of the “Support to Media in Jordan” project and the mainstream CI sector & to facilitate networking of local radio stations.
