THE RADIO AS A MASS MEDIUM: „Paul Păltănea” History Museum of Galaţi
71 years ago, on February 13-th, 1946, the radio post of the United Nations performed the first broadcast. In 2011, the Spanish Radio Accademy delcares its intention to establish a day to celebrate the Radio and, in September, this proposal is presented to the Executive Commitee of UNESCO. One month later, the General Conference of UNESCO approves the establishment of the World Radio Day.
The temporary exhibition “The Radio as a Mass Medium”, curated by museographer Valentin Bodea, displays radio devices (from the 30s until the 80s) from the Collection “Science and Technics” of „Paul Păltănea” History Museum of Galaţi and also documents (bills from the 20s until the 40s), which prove the existence, in the town of Galaţi, of shops selling radio devices.
The event will take place at "Casa Cuza Vodă" Museum (str. Al. I. Cuza, no. 80), a branch of „Paul Păltănea” History Museum of Galaţi.
