Alex FM Young Reporter show feature
Every Saturday, the Children's Radio Foundation young reporters in 17 sites across South Africa host their own radio show at a community radio station where they live. We have 360 active young reporters across all nine provinces, reaching a combined audience of 1.6 million listeners each week. The youth reporters take on issues that resonate with youth in their communities, including HIV/AIDS, LGBTI, child rights, xenophobia, education, and the environment. Each week the reporters meet to plan, prepare, produce and host their own shows. Speaking in local languages and in a youth-friendly style, they interview community members, host debates, and bring out local perspectives.
We will bring you into the studio from our Young Reporter group from Alex FM, and catch a snippet of their show on video. They will be talking about the 'Role of radio in our lives'. Stay tuned to catch these young, confident and passionate people in action.
